Drivers of our community – Trevor & Sandra earn Kings Honours

We’d like to take a moment to recognise and celebrate committee members, Trevor and Sandra Sharp, who have been pillars of our community for over five decades.

Trevor served as the chairman of our Association for an impressive 25 years. Sandra has also played a pivotal role over those years on the committee and as a councillor in local government. Together, they have profoundly influenced the community we love.

Trevor and Sandra also initiated the McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic 18 years ago. “We started with 50 cars and a handful of spectators. Now, we have nearly 600 cars and draw crowds of 15,000 to 20,000 people.”

Their dedication to our community has earned them each a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). Trevor has held leadership roles in tourism, Scouts, and Rotary groups since 1980, while Sandra has received numerous awards for her community service, including the Australian Government Volunteer Award in 2018.

“You do all these things, not for recognition, but because you love your community,” Trevor said. “It’s nice when people acknowledge your efforts, though. We’ve lived here for 46 years, seen a lot of change, and worked together as a team. McLaren Vale has it all – the hills, the vines, the wineries. It’s the best place to live.”

We are so grateful to have them as part of our committee and community.
